On Publication
Topic: Progress Report

From what I understand of Wizards of the Coast's Game System License, Serinor violates all sorts of rules and cannot, without significant and canon-destroying alterations, ever be published as a D&D 4e supplement.

That's all I've got this week.  That's a depressing hour or two that I'm not getting back.

Augh... that's terrible. I haven't read through the SRD (yet) but my understanding of the new license was that it's terrible. What sort of stuff (in broad, non-infringing strokes) would be a problem?

Any change in definition is an infringement.  This includes things like kobolds being dogs instead of dragons, or fairies being elementals instead of fey.  The hardest hit would be the humans, because Serinor's humans are not the adaptable, adventurous humans of D&D.  It's all things I could work around or make concessions for but...  it wouldn't be my world anymore.  It'd be the world I had to settle for to make money off of it.

So I'll hold off.  If I clap my hands and believe in fairies, maybe someday I can sell it to somebody as the multiplayer Morrowind clone I keep envisioning in my head.
